How I spent my Lenten 2013
March 28, 2013

Alay Lakad. I never, in my life participated this event before. Even though I’m originally from Antipolo City but for the sake of blogging and friendship I tried to walk with a mob of so called believers. It is indeed an oxygen depriving hike and we really had a struggle to walk with a bandwagon of practitioners not to mention that I’m only carrying my camera without any strap.

My original plan was to spend the night at Hiro’s place since he promised that we’ll eat a lot and play X-box but my life is simply grander because of my spontaneous friends. Might be doing it again next year.

Meet Margaret
February 21, 2013

Woke up very early today and eagerly rushed my way to Hidalgo to fetch my little princess, Margaret. A Nikon D700.

Here’s some first few photos from my new camera. Shooting with a full frame sensor at last! I apparently sold my old Nikon D300s and most of my crop sensor lenses for this and I’m telling you it is really worth it. Never imagined that I’ll be using a full-frame sensor format any sooner. This is also a surprise for me. Thank you sweet Jesus!

The Cagsaua RuinsLegazpi Bicol, Philippines November 26, 2012
The baroque church of Cagsawa was built after 1724 by Franciscan friars under Fray Francisco Blanco in the small town of Cagsawa (spelled as Cagsaua during the Hispanic occupation of the Philippines). It was supposed to replace an earlier church built in 1636 that had been burned down by Dutch pirates.
It was destroyed during the most destructive eruption of the nearby Mayon Volcano in February 1, 1814. The eruption killed an estimated 1,200 people in the surrounding areas and buried the town of Cagsawa (among others) under several hundred million cubic meters of ash. Hundreds of inhabitants of the town of Cagsawa purportedly sought refuge in the church, but were also killed by either pyroclastic flows or lahar. Only the belfry and some parts of the convent survive today, though parts of the crumbling facade were still standing long after the 1814 eruption as attested by photographs. It is believed that the facade of the structure collapsed due to earthquakes in the 1950’s.

As we go NORTH! ♥

Up, up but not too far.

I give my two thumbs up for the place. It was my second time being around the beautiful beach just in front of my best-friend’s humble home in their province. First was 4 years ago after my and best-friend’s high school graduation celebration. Fine white sand plus the big rock in the background. What more would you wish for? Ugh. Paradise.

Dreamy Long Exposures.
I must admit that bringing along a tripod on your trip is a suffering even though mine was plastic, without any hint of being a professional tripod to be used on a magnesium alloy camera body.
